Light, fast and with potential for a large class. J Boats presents its new sports boat concept for the first time in Germany

With the J 70, the Americans from J Boats are now launching a smaller and significantly slimmed-down version of the successful J 80 standard class. The new J also has a lifting keel, making it easier to transport on the road and launch via a ramp. And the boat is equipped with a lightweight carbon fibre mast straight from the shipyard, which can be easily raised by hand by two people.

The ship concept is based on the tried-and-tested layout of sports boats with a retractable bowsprit. Although the arrangement of the fittings and the functions for trimming the sails do not bring any surprising innovations, they have proven themselves in practice with clear handling and comprehensible manoeuvring sequences.

In the meantime, the J 70 is already being sailed in impressive fields in America. J Boats in the USA has already sold 65 units. Licence production at J Composites in Les Sables d'Olonne, France, is also going well in Europe. Construction numbers three and four are currently in the pipeline there. The shipyard guarantees uncompromising type identity of the boats from both productions.

The basic price ex shipyard is 34,390 euros. On top of this, you will have to fork out another 5000 euros for a simple set of Dacron sails (standard according to class regulations). The test of the J 70 will appear in the next issue of YACHT No. 22/2012 (available from newsagents from 10 October).
